Policing Black Activism
Join the Missouri History Museum for a discussion of how black activism has been historically treated by the authorities. Watch selections from the acclaimed documentary Eyes on the Prize II: A Nation of Law? (1968-1971), followed by a panel discussion with Civil Rights activist Percy Green; newspaper columnist and community organizer Jamala Rogers; and Norman Seay, Civil Rights activist and founding member of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in St. Louis. Dr. Sowande' Mustakeem of Washington University will moderate.
This program is part of a series of events in preparation for the exhibit RACE: Are We So Different?, opening in January 2010. The Missouri History Museum, in conjunction with the St. Louis Beacon and KETC/Channel 9, presents these monthly programs addressing issues related to race in the region and nationwide.
